I am 47 with no Spanish background. I am taking a crash course class for “idiot” Spanish. 😊 The Duolingo app has been great fun & practice to go along with what I am learning in my class.
  • Duolingo is okay.

I like the idea of this - to make studying languages feel more like playing than studying, but there are also some things I feel like you should change. For example, when you run out of health, you have to wait for FIVE HOURS! PLEASE lower that to something below two or three, because learning a different language is essential for traveling and I travel all the time. The thing where you can run multiple courses is pretty cool too - I’m learning Spanish and French right now, which is why this is at 4-star. I think the wait for more health is what affects my thoughts on this the most though. I definitely think that should be changed. Other than that though, the app is great and I hope that this succeeds and always does!
  • Limited teaching, and some glitches.

Under common phrases, which is early on, there are minor differences that don’t add up to me. You can write the correct phrase, but it will say it’s incorrect, when I put a period compared to exclamation mark... Also I can write a phrase exactly write with an exclamation mark and all, still marks it wrong. Tried to see if spacing is an issue, but as far as I can tell, it’s not. Only other thing, is that there isn’t any teaching of “language rules” so to speak. “Le” and “la” are both the word “the” but only with curtain words, not sure why though.... because it doesn’t teach you.

I love what this app does which is educate people for free! But I wish you could improve how other languages on the app are too. For example the Swahili section isn’t as nice as Spanish for example. Please make all of them equally well done
  • Love Duolingo!

I’ve been studying Spanish since 3rd grade and have finally found a system that works for me! I’m not fluent, but feel confident enough now to speak Spanish to Spanish speaking people. What fun!
  • Good App

It makes it really easy to learn a new language I’ve never taken a spanish class or anything and I’m getting the hang of it like a bike ride
  • Great app, but with one shortcoming

    By TBittencourt-pH
Duolingo has always been my go-to app when it comes to language learning, and it's a great way to make inroads into foreign languages. However, I must share my disappointment with one made choice by the app developers — namely, preventing the pasting of passwords in the login form. For people such as me, who use a password manager, this is an inexcusable action on the part of developers. If possible, please consider fixing this annoying "feature" on future releases.
